[What do you do after bad shit goes down except wander aimlessly around your confined hell space? That's what he's doing.
He's at least not crying, but his eyes definitely look mildly red. The artist formerly known as I Was Crying. Not even the eyebrows or the ears being longer can get him to do little more than nod at Rynlan.]
[maybe weed can fix him. maybe the chill factor will do it.]
It's not surprising. I assumed we wouldn't all make it in, after they talked about earning invitations, but I didn't really think there was a hard limit...
We have afterlives, sure, but there's no... one specific place that anyone of a certain type is supposed to go. Supposedly there's one for people whose deeds in combat were great; an evil soul could possibly be sent there.
[whyyyy is everything so much today. he's tired. he is also tracking akira down, because even if he is not currently a healer, he's likely heard something by now and decided to check in.]
Suppose 'is everything all right' wouldn't be the best question, but are you taken care of?
[He opens his mouth to say something, but a cat jumps down for him. He startles into a primal sort of rigidity and defensiveness.
His lips peel back, but he doesn't snarl. As the cat approaches, he seems to turn into a liquid form in the chair by way of trying to keep the cat from touching him at first. HE RAISES A HAND LIKE HE MIGHT SWIPE THE CAT ACROSS THE BEACH.
But it only meows at him, so he lowers his hand and has a staring contest with it.]
[he sighs as he leans down to scoop the cat up. she continues the staring contest with akira, though, her big, round eyes fixed on him. there's not a thought in this head right now.]
She thinks everyone exists to pay attention to her, don't mind her.
Once the cat is not nosily trying to get into his space, he becomes more curious than offended. From where he's perched on his feet, he peers back at the cat. There really isn't a single higher-intelligent thing going on in his head for the moment. It's all very instinctual.]
[The offense and irritation delight him. He smirks slowly.]
They were strongest and smartest. They survived the battle they chose to fight, or they simply would have died. You hunted them wrongly, found them with human hearts and morals to feel better about yourselves.
They should have lived until another decided to kill them. But if they had been strong, they would have won the fight everyone put them in.
w0, sunday
He's at least not crying, but his eyes definitely look mildly red. The artist formerly known as I Was Crying. Not even the eyebrows or the ears being longer can get him to do little more than nod at Rynlan.]

The bar is still working, if you need to take the edge off.
[he looks like he could maybe use it.]
no subject
Nah. I think I'm done with that for a while.
[A sloppy, crying drunk.]
no subject
[and not be drunk on the ferry. he definitely still has a drink in hand, though.]
no subject
You can go ahead if you want.
no subject
[taking a sippy, while he finds a place to settle.]
...seems the first thing on everyone's minds has been whether we'll have to go through all of this again.
no subject
akira now: no amount of alcohol can heal me]
Do you think what Bucky said was true...? After the trial. About twenty of us and... there being a catch.
no subject
It's not surprising. I assumed we wouldn't all make it in, after they talked about earning invitations, but I didn't really think there was a hard limit...
no subject
I didn't think we would either. They said we had to impress him, but wouldn't say with what. I guess I know now.
no subject
I hope not. Maybe just- copying the murder incident won't be worth anything. Loss of points for lack of originality.
no subject
But that means people might try to do worse things so it counts.
no subject
[he sounds faintly amused, though. jeez.]
no subject
[He doesn’t sound, like, totally scolded or anything.]
But this place doesn’t have the best reputation.
no subject
[this isn't his mythos, man]
no subject
You don't have a hell where you're from...? Like... a place where evil people go.

w1 thursday
Suppose 'is everything all right' wouldn't be the best question, but are you taken care of?
no subject
But he does pause to look at Rynlan.]
I’m alright. I came out better than Ryo and Lin.
no subject
[he knows this kind of distinction. he's also looking him over, while they're here.]
no subject
My chest hurts a little, but I’m not hurt.
[And he does seem fine! His clothes don’t even have any stains or tears on them.]
no subject
[at least he seems all right otherwise... but still.]
no subject
[Dies off schedule (no).]
no subject
[no DYING OFF SCHEDULE.]
no subject
[Well, maybe.]
Or he’d leave time he took it.
no subject
[but still- your chest pain.]
no subject
[Finicky lil boy.]
I'll be okay. It hurts, but I don't feel worried about it. I think it's just... in my head.
no subject
[hm. he looks dubious.]
Just remember with internal injury it's hard to tell if that's true.
w2, monday
He seems to be trying to make himself as small as possible to fit under the shade of the mostly whole umbrella.
He's scowling slightly.]
no subject
[he's also like. standing where he blocks some of the light for akira even as he asks this, though, so he's #helping. kind of.]
no subject
S'too bright.
no subject
[he'll stay here for now, though. the cat on his shoulder hops down to go bother akira, meowing at him.]
no subject
His lips peel back, but he doesn't snarl. As the cat approaches, he seems to turn into a liquid form in the chair by way of trying to keep the cat from touching him at first. HE RAISES A HAND LIKE HE MIGHT SWIPE THE CAT ACROSS THE BEACH.

Where did it come from?
[AT LEAST SAY HER]
no subject
[be respectful to his cat. meanwhile, she is still staring, her head tilted slightly. she makes a cute little prrrp? sound.]
She showed up yesterday.
no subject
She would probably taste good to eat.
[He sort of looks like >:) when he says this.]
Better than the skin and bones I got.
no subject
[holding the cat protectively to his chest...
he's a fucking noodle, what will he do. but he will protect this kitty.]
Wait- better than what?
no subject
[He does not elaborate more on that, though. He sucks his teeth under his breath and looks away.]
A useless cat.
no subject
[he's getting a slightly judgmental look, as if judging whoever decided to give a cat to this man.]
no subject
Too many. Which means it'd be fine to eat some of them to cull the population. If they're strong enough to survive, they'll kill me and not be eaten.
no subject
['he hasn't even SEEN the cat' it's a cat, and therefore he knows it is a perfect creature.]
no subject
[He will just say it because he is acting a lil weird this week. WHY DOES THIS MAKE HIM SO SMUG. He's so weird.]
Might not get a chance. I might put it out of its misery.
no subject
[leave that cat aLONE.]
no subject
[He shrugs, but keeps staring down Rynlan's cat anyway.]
That's how it works. The weakest ones aren't worthy enough to survive. You act surprised when that's what's happening to us here too.
no subject
Not worthy enough-- that's not something that's only up to strength. How well has that been serving anyone who did try to pick someone off?
no subject
They were strongest and smartest. They survived the battle they chose to fight, or they simply would have died. You hunted them wrongly, found them with human hearts and morals to feel better about yourselves.
