It's the beach, I'm not sure what you expected.

[he'll stay here for now, though. the cat on his shoulder hops down to go bother akira, meowing at him.]

[He opens his mouth to say something, but a cat jumps down for him. He startles into a primal sort of rigidity and defensiveness.

His lips peel back, but he doesn't snarl. As the cat approaches, he seems to turn into a liquid form in the chair by way of trying to keep the cat from touching him at first. HE RAISES A HAND LIKE HE MIGHT SWIPE THE CAT ACROSS THE BEACH.

But it only meows at him, so he lowers his hand and has a staring contest with it.]

Ah- Suran'dor, leave him alone...

[he sighs as he leans down to scoop the cat up. she continues the staring contest with akira, though, her big, round eyes fixed on him. there's not a thought in this head right now.]

She thinks everyone exists to pay attention to her, don't mind her.

[Hmmm.

Once the cat is not nosily trying to get into his space, he becomes more curious than offended. From where he's perched on his feet, he peers back at the cat. There really isn't a single higher-intelligent thing going on in his head for the moment. It's all very instinctual.]

[be respectful to his cat. meanwhile, she is still staring, her head tilted slightly. she makes a cute little prrrp? sound.]

She showed up yesterday.

[He looks at the cat pointedly again (for no reason than to assert dominance).]

She would probably taste good to eat.

[He sort of looks like >:) when he says this.]

Better than the skin and bones I got.

There's plenty of food, we are not eating any of the cats!

[holding the cat protectively to his chest...

he's a fucking noodle, what will he do. but he will protect this kitty.]

Cats can be food.

[He does not elaborate more on that, though. He sucks his teeth under his breath and looks away.]

A useless cat.

You too?! How many cats are there in Hell?

[he's getting a slightly judgmental look, as if judging whoever decided to give a cat to this man.]

[Cats, true lords of hell. There are so many cats here.]

Too many. Which means it'd be fine to eat some of them to cull the population. If they're strong enough to survive, they'll kill me and not be eaten.

It is absolutely not fine to eat them-! There's nothing wrong with your cat, either!

['he hasn't even SEEN the cat' it's a cat, and therefore he knows it is a perfect creature.]

You haven't even seen the cat.

[He will just say it because he is acting a lil weird this week. WHY DOES THIS MAKE HIM SO SMUG. He's so weird.]

Might not get a chance. I might put it out of its misery.

I don't need to see it to know there's nothing wrong with it-- don't do that, what is wrong with you?

If you saw it, you'd change your mind.

[He shrugs, but keeps staring down Rynlan's cat anyway.]

That's how it works. The weakest ones aren't worthy enough to survive. You act surprised when that's what's happening to us here too.

[that gets him to bristle, a bit, hair tentacles writhing.]

Not worthy enough-- that's not something that's only up to strength. How well has that been serving anyone who did try to pick someone off?

[The offense and irritation delight him. He smirks slowly.]

They were strongest and smartest. They survived the battle they chose to fight, or they simply would have died. You hunted them wrongly, found them with human hearts and morals to feel better about yourselves.

They should have lived until another decided to kill them. But if they had been strong, they would have won the fight everyone put them in.
